About the bean
This washed Caturra was produced by Pedro Flores at his Finca El Mirador in Villa Rosario, in the epicentre of Caravani province, Bolivia. This area is the heart of specialty coffee production in the country, with high altitudes, rich soil and ideal temperature conditions.
Finca El Mirador is located at 1,500-1,670 metres above sea level, with the Caturra making up this lot coming from the most elevated part of the farm. Here, the ripening process is slower, allowing the coffee cherry's sugars to develop more evenly, thereby producing a more sweet final coffee.
Expect to find a cup full of notes of red grape, stone fruit and mandarin. Clean and transparent, with juicy acidity and great depth of sweetness. This offering from Finca El Mirador has us impressed.
